The Charity

My affection for summer camp started over 45 years ago. Six years ago I came upon a charity that ties into my affection for camping; Trails Youth Initiatives takes vulnerable, at risk youth from the inner city of Toronto who may be struggling with issues related to adolescence and their environment and gives them a place and opportunity to develop their confidence and self-esteem so as to make good life decisions. The proof, as they say, is in the pudding. In this 26th year, Trails has expanded their program, a new cabin to house the extra kids was just completed. Your help is needed even more.

Children enter the program at age 12 and make a four year commitment to attend the Trails camp facility located in the Stouffville area for two weeks every summer and for one weekend [Friday through Sunday] every month from September to June. 90% of those who enter the program complete it. Moreover, 90% of the youth who have completed the Trails program go on to post-secondary education as compared to only 10% of their peer group. If ever there was a case for an immediate ROI, Trails is it.

Last year, we had some 350 people in the house and raised $43,000 for Trails Youth Initiative. To date, Vancestock has raised $197,260 in six years. This is fantastic!!! My objective for this year is to put more than 400 people in the house and to raise over $40,000. Please give generously.

The evening will feature a number of performers and special guests.

Matt Weidinger, a 25-year-old from Kitchener, ON is a passionate young songwriter, with an amazing voice. Matt is well known for his mature rock/soul vocals and impressive multi-instrumental talents.
